BIOGRAPHY

Ingvill Statle Skjørten is a Norwegian mezzo soprano. With a love for music spanning from the very old to the brand new, she specialises in the contemporary classical and experimental repertoire. Working at the intersection between notated music, free improvisation and performance, expressive versatility and playfulness are key words to her artistic practice.

She completed her bachelor's degree in classical singing at the Barratt Due Academy of Music in Oslo in 2021 and, in 2024, her master's in contemporary music performance at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and Hochschule für Musik Dresden with Lisa Fornhammar.  

As an interpreter of contemporary music, she has worked with with people such as Georges Aperghis, Helmut Lachenmann, Carola Bauckholt, Sarah Nemtsov, Laure M. Hiendl, Klaus Lang, Peter Ablinger, Hans Tutschku, Jennifer Walshe, Vykintas Baltakas, Synne Skouen, Maja Ratkje, Dimitri Kourliandski, Franz Martin Olbrisch, Donatienne Michel-Dansac, Daniel Gloger, Manos Tsangaris und Marino Formenti. Alongside performing works by established composers, she actively commissions and works with emerging composers.  

An experienced ensemble singer, Ingvill sings regularly with The Norwegian Soloists' Choir—where she was an Academy member from 2020 to 2024— The Norwegian Women’s Choir, BachWerk Vokal Salzburg and Ensemble kehlkopfkollektiv.  

Together with pianist Alba Llorach Roca, she forms the duo “LiedExtended”, which won the audience prize at the D-Bü competition in 2024 with their game-show concert “Homo Ludens”. In 2025, she was a finalist at the Sounding Visions Award with her solo program “von Spiegeln und Rätseln”, receiving a recognition award from the jury.  

Passionate about creating inclusive and immersive concert experiences, she joined the Tonali Bühnenakademie in 2024, a three-year program for musicians integrating artistic practice with social engagement. She also co-organizes the concert series dasKONZERTs in Dresden with Volker Sondermann and Vasily Ratmansky - which full title is „Das neue elektronische experimentelle improvisierte KONZERTs in verschiedenen ungewöhnlichen Konzertsälen in Dresden (und auch anderen Orten) wo manchmal auch getanzt, geschwommen, gekocht und gegessen wird“.
